The Quran is a good book.

I once read a few parts at random and found it unbearably tedious, and I'm even someone who thinks many parts of the Bible are interesting.
Beyond that, reading any reasonably impartial history of the founding period of Islam is enough to turn anyone's stomach.

It's not really a question of how well it translates, or how wonderful it sounds in Arabic. christians don't think biblical text was literally written by god, but rather it's god speaking through the authors of the text.
In contrast, the words of the Koran are literally considered to be holy. Translations are seen as problematic not because they're less aesthetically pleasing, but becuase translation = interpretation and debasement of the holy text.
I've never read it in arabic, tbf, but in english it seemed pretty SPS.

If you read the Koran and compare it to not just the bible but to what Jesus actually says in the bible, then the Koran is the lesser of the two. It's filled with a lot of weird shit and angry shit about the enemies of Allah and warriors of Islam getting the virgins when they die and all that.
Jesus doesn't. He's far more peaceful than Mohammed. Jesus was basically a shitlib. Mohammed was an angry fundie.

You might find this useful. It explains how Islam was able to explode out of Arabia, taking advantage of the seriously weakened Byzantine and Persian empires. It wasn't due to the force of Mohammed's preachings, but the swords of his followers.

It's unbelievable how comprehensive it is on anything you're struggling with or concerned about. Every time you read it, something different will be apparent to you. Any question you have about life, how to respond to situations, you'll find the answer. It is repetitive on certain matters for a reason, because there are certain morals and values that need to be emphasized so that we apply them in life if we read it more frequently. Such as respect of parents, trust of Allah, patience, gratitude, kindness, etc.
The longest surah, surah Baqarah, is 286 verses, and it was revealed over a long period of time, yet it is thematically palindromic.

Read it with tafseer (explanation/commentary). You can't just gloss over it, and get properly immersed in it and to understand how purposefully nuanced the text is.
Here's an example to give you an idea of what I mean:
