Young Iranians fly American flags in the streets and the new alliance, while fledgling, looks promising. POTUS Trump is in Russia where he has made an ally of Putin in their quest against Islamism. 11:00 PM: Before retiring, your wife lets you finally try that thing you've always wanted to do since you just pulled in a big bonus. You sleep soundly and write your check for Trump's re-election campaign. To be picked up by your postman, Robert, the next day.

But I also think that it won't be coasts-versus-heartland. It'll be more like urban areas/college towns versus exurban areas. Certain parts of the heartland will be affected by the influx of coastal people who are drawn there because of a lower COL. And they'll bring with them coastal values and tastes. If the immigrants, women, gays, minorities etc. work hard, make money, and generally don't disturb the peace then there won't be any reason for the white Christian straight males to be threatened by their presence in their neighborhoods and workplaces.

What about a more inclusive definition of what it means to be American (we don't care who you are or how you define yourself as long as you have legal citizenship and obey our laws) coupled with secure borders and more economic protections for American citizens? Nationalism need not be coupled with a 50s-style whitewashing that erodes the life possibilities for large swaths of our citizens.
