are the lakers just transported into the future for the games or do they ahve the benefit of watching the warriors play for a few seasons?
if its just an instant fantasy matchup, the warriors win because they are playing a style that they've been refining for a while and would be copmletely foreign to the 2001 lakers.. your bench of superstars isn't necessarily going to figure out what the fuck is going on before dropping 4 games.
its like how baseball players can't hit softball pitches. it's not necessarily that softball pitching lesbians are the greatest athletes on earth, its just different shit than what they've trained for

Yes Shaq would do tons of damage but GS would have lots of fouls to work with and could deny at least some entry passes and we all know Kobe will try and get his regardless of the situation.
Shaqs defensive rebounding would be neutralized against GS small lineup. I think the lakers struggle to keep up with the pace and lose in 5 games.
IMO, Jordan's second three peat bulls with their good perimeter defenders would do much better and be a favorite against these warriors.

Only 5 fouls then your in the penalty. Also you can't really front Shaq with smaller players like that. He is too big and skilled, it's going to be fouls and and 1s opportunities. Or he will collapse the defense and kick it out to amazing finishers or just Kobe.
The thing people underrate about the Lakers is the players like Fisher, Fox, Horry and Harper. They are extremely versatile killers. They can go big or can beat LA playing small ball for periods of time.
I don't see this series going past 6. Shaq was too dominate, Kobe was too good of a too way player and slasher to go small against. And The role players were too good.

The warriors were a long time coming. In fact, I'm surprised it took this long for a team like this to be assembled to exploit the rules of the game. This could have been implemented anytime between 1979 and now--hand-checking or not. The math is simple and inevitable. If you are able to shoot 33.3% from the three-point line, then you are shooting 50% from the field basically, pre-1979. The Warriors' 41.3% from the three-point line this season would just fucking decimate any team who oriented its offense around the paint and mid-range. Find a bunch of players who can slash and dissect defensive schemes while also having the skillset belonging to three-point marksmen, then you basically have "solved" this game and have achieved Game Theory Optimal. So any FAGGOT FANBOY who thinks the 90s Bulls or the 2000s Lakers would have dominated the Warriors don't truly understand the evolution of this game toward GTO.
Ftr, I believe the only team who could potentially beat the present-day Warriors were the 90s Chicago Bulls, but they would need to practice and become accustomed to the current (evolved) state of the game.
