You need to register it as an assault weapon between Jan 2017 and December 2017, but you're in the clear. Anything before Dec 31 2016 gets grandfathered in.

Good thing you moved when you did though, because local gun shop prices are going to spike hard.

My understanding is that magazine releases on semi-auto rifles have to be recessed so that they cannot be finger operated and require an external tool. Apparently bullets are considered a tool and there are also magnetic tools you can just stick onto the recessed mag release to circumvent the law.

Thordsen Customs does 180 anti-shitlib work. They make the "Ultimate Bullet Button Tool," which is just a small little protrusion that you install on the bottom of your magazine, so that you can use the full magazine you are about to install to drop the empty magazine.

earliest pick up is july 5. I was going to pick it up on the 9th, but I may try to get it earlier now.

I haven't decided but it is sitting there waiting for me.

One of the failed measures on the ballot was to ban ALL SEMI AUTO RIFLES with detachable magazines - which at least is intellectually consistent. I might buy a ranch rifle and M-1A just in case!

The biggest problem with these new laws is the confiscation of high capacity mags (which were legal prior to 2001). Previously only the sale and transfer of the mags was illegal.

the 10 day background check isn't a huge deal to me. it's the DOJ database of ammo buyers that CA wants that really worries me

yeah, just let libs keep a "database" of you for a legal but "frowned upon" activity, nothing bad will happen. Trust me ;)

Here is the pertinent law. It does not affect current semi auto rifles with detachable mags which dont have other features - i.e. ranch rifle, M1A, etc. - no pistol grip.

It just basically goes after the bullet button. Fucking stupid.

Does the Mini-14 need to be modified to be CA compliant? If not, lol, just lol at CA shitlibs banning only the scary looking weapons. By the way, here are a few Mini-14s:

those would not be CA compliant. You need to not have any bad features - pistol grip, flash suppressor or collapsible stock.

This mini 14 is okay and this M1A is okay.

these gun banning motherfuckers are exactly why the 2nd amendment exists and why it's the most important right guaranteed by the constitution

libs believe protecting the government is the most important thing we can do

you protect the government by weakening the individual citizens

but that's just because you don't get it

it takes so little experience to step up

if that's what you want to call it

to the next level

it's not like johnny .22 shooting pigeons all his life will dominate in the paintball arena against alexander the guy who grew up playing 1st person shooting video games. he won't.

and the transition to real guns is very, very easy

Bills Brown vetoed:

▪ Assembly Bill 1176, by Cooper, which would have put an initiative on the ballot to clarify that stealing a firearm is felony grand theft.

Wait, he vetoed on of the bills that actually makes sense? Stealing a gun should be illegal as fuck.

so do "sweeping" gun control bills lead to lawsuits and courts will reverse them like with the tx abortion law the supreme court rejected?
