Think about defending/shooting against someone that is even an inch smaller than you in basketball. It's EASY.
Not to mention there's probably less than 50,000 people in the world that are 6'8" or larger...90% of them being awkward/not coordinated
Tall and athletic is an incredibly rare combination. Basketball costs nothing to play and can be played alone. Football requires a ton of equipment ($$$), and lots of people to play. Our athletes are generally poor, therefore basketball is their first game. Because of Lebron's rare size/athleticism (and any other tall black dudes), they're scouted by AAU basketball teams at age 8, not football teams. |
