Yeah I know a couple of these. A good friend of mine is a punk rock tatted up Bernie bro who lives off smashing the system (not really, he's an entrepreneur who left BIGCONSULTING after a couple of years). He hates the fukk out of Trump but really didn't like himself for voting for Hillary.
He HATES SJWs and feminists and "safe spaces" and shrews. Especially shrews.
Grew up solidly UMC in a superzip but HATES many aspects of consumerist / global capitalist culture.

I know one dood who is a blue collar democrat. Now he has a 180 job making $500k+ in MFH (so he's middle class, LOL) but he comes from blue collar roots and is totally not a glocap guy - doesn't care too much about travel (only takes his kids skiing and his dad golfing) or opera or food. He tells his boys to get into sushi because "girls like sushi", not because sushi is awesome or anything like that (and he still only gets crunchy tuna rolls).
He's still open minded on gays etc, but is the type to tell a girl to smile more.
I suspect that he will turn into a Trumpmo before these four years are out.

His parents were uneducated and blue collar, but provided a middle class level life for this dood and his brothers. All of them went to college, but the family is very blue collar in terms of mentality.
The dood I'm talking about was smart and went to prep schools (all on scholarships) and strived his way up to $500k+ in MFH.
His dad is still a blue collar dood at heart. Has never had guacamole, hates the smell of salsa, has only been on a plane like ten times in his life and all domestic.
TL; DR: He's not a UMC SJW who raises his pinky when he drinks his pomerol.

"very limited LEGAL immigration of the best who want to be Americans"
That's going to be very difficult with respect to migrant workers who tile our floors and pick our strawberries. Big Ag won't let this fly.
"a move towards federalism."
Not sure if federalism per se is the issue, but what federalism is applied to. Most liberals are cool with a state-by-state approach to, say, recreational marijuana use and I don't think anyone's going to argue that the right to blaze up is included in those constitutional penumbras and emanations.
So it isn't "federalism" as a principle that people find disagreeable. We just can't agree with respect to the issues which states can legislate for themselves versus which issues are "rights" given magically by the Constitution (conservatives are typically "framers' intent" when it comes to constitutional interpretation EXCEPT for the 2nd Amendment).
