if they're not getting it through their employer, they often can't. that's a bad income range, because it's too high for significant subsidies in many areas but it's still a poverty wage for most purposes.

Bro, the cheapest plan you can get in my state for someone my age is $4300 a year. If ur making $33k a year, that is probably going to be ur second biggest expense aside from groceries and housing. And that's for just one person. No idea what it would run for more than one.

This is like the whole cutting NPR's funding to fix the national deficit. Maybe that would help, but not nearly enough to make any impact in the long run.

You do that to protect providers, not the poor. Poor people who can't afford to pay the deductible and don't purchase some supplemental plan that reduces such a deductible should suffer the consequences imo.

they could if they cut out the unnecessary crap they buy. the real problem is the deductibles and coinsurance on top of that. it just stops making sense for people, esp with no preexisting condition requirements.

I pay much more than that anyways despite having an employer funded plan and falling into the "if you like your plan you can keep it" bucket. Really above all it's costs that are out of control and too many people are getting rich of regular people getting sick. having the govt start paying for everything will just throw gasoline on that flame.

That and the entire life of someone making 33k a year is a house of cards if they get sick. U want ppl to spend their lives not having comforts of distraction from being poor so they Can spend 4K a year on ins that , if they get sick, still results in their filing bankruptcy bc they don't have another $6k for the deductible and since they were paycheck to paycheck, now they can't even pay rent or electric bill.

i mean yea, if you're poor then you should live like a poor. 8 fucking years of Obama and he did jack dick to cut provider costs which is the real problem. libs who try to take the high road now can eat my asshole.

should we instead just do single payer for everyone and, in addition to lowering the quality and increasing price for the vast majority of people, raise this $33K faggot's taxes by $5K a year (remember that's solidly middle class for a single person in much of the country)? all so a handful of actual gutter poors can get the same care as everyone else? just open some shitass clinics they can go to and leave everyone else the fuck alone.

The point is, ppl aren't going to pay for a product that still results in the same result as if they didn't-bankruptcy.

my point was that it's deductibles and coinsurance as well as retarded costs that are the real problem and single payer would not be any different for the $33K guy. They could afford $4300 a year if they had to if it meant everything was covered.

the problem is people view HC like they do roads or the power grid where it's a common network that everyone uses. really it should be more like education and just meet the basic needs of the community.

It's impractical to exclude people from the road (although roads are much better maintained in rich areas). Many would argue that poors receive much worse police protection, but they generally cannot be entirely excluded.

Unlike roads or even police, it is easy to exclude poors from expensive healthcare plans and services. Heathcare simply is not the same type of public good.

CR. Most of the truly rich people I know would never say or even think shit like this. The UMC folk though...holy shit they actually think they are better.

CR. Honestly it's my middle class, mildly UMC and straight up rich friends I get along with best. The ones who are like UMC but not rich are such insecure negative blowhards always talking shit about people. I would probably have to pry nasty words about others out of my rich friends' mouths. And my middle class friends have all sorts of personalities but are consistently hardworking so I can always respect them for that.

These lazy poors need to go out and beat the bushes for a good deal. Call up Aetna and get a quote. Then call up Blue across and ask them to beat Aetna's offer. When they do, call United and do the same thing. Then call Aetna back and show them United's offer and give them a chance to beat it.

You're going to be able to negotiate great deals with tons of competitors.

Cr. Then call Blue Cross of California and tell them how cheap Blue Cross of Iowa will offer u coverage for and BCBS of California will be forced to negotiate lower rates with hospitals in Iowa to get ur business.

the real stupid part is that most people instead just go to their local agent, who in addition to being paid on percent of first year premium and having no incentive to save you money, is also contracted with a specific carrier and can't sell anything else. the whole process is fucked.
