yes, a suit is generally more expensive than a similar quality sportcoat + wool slack of the same brand. i think it's just a supply and demand thing. people are more likely to need suits, and will pay more. sportcoats are more discretionary for people who already have suits and need to be cheaper.

Not all blazers/sports coat have the golden buttons. Many of them look exactly like suits. Why not just buy a suit outright?

a lot of that shit is wrong.

a blazer technically means only a navy blazer, and "navy blazer" is kinda redundant. but i think one could call navy blazer or a black blazer a "blazer."

anything else is a sports cost.

that being said, a solid blazer is still a blazer whether it has metal buttons or non-metal buttons.

to be clear, i'm not advocating buying a separate sports coat and slacks that are the same color to make it into a suit. that's prole as fuck.

i'm saying that people who buy sports coats already have a bunch of suits in their closet. less people are buying sports coats than suits.

but if you buy the same color/design slacks with a blazer and it looks the same, what's the big deal. The price is substantially less.

unless you're talking solids, it's going to be different. and even then, the color could be different. or the texture could be different.

and, it's still prole. there are better ways to save money on suits -- like getting things on sale -- than doing this prole shit.

das racis.

my mom always talks about how it's a travesty that people in CA wear jeans to the opera.

i don't see what's wrong with dressing, say, business casual at some stupid opera. dressing to the 9's is overkill.

1) solid shirts always look terrible in biz casual. solid shirts meant to be worn with a jacket and/or tie. looks ridic wearing a plain white/blue shirt and slacks. looks like you forgot something

2) i think it's fine for the opera, not that i go to the omg the opera. but me personally, i'd probably throw a sportscoat over that, unless it were hot.
