I think 168 was a best case scenario because it got me a full ride at a TTT. At 170+ I would've felt compelled to "shoot for the stars" and take out $200K in loans at a T14.

Perhaps due to nerves, this problem showed up on test day, and I whiffed on at least two problems that way (I checked later and they were trivially easy; it was simply carelessness), which cost me three points because the curve that year was strict.

Besides that, I whiffed a couple straight-up in logic games and I memorably missed a Reading Comp question whose answer relied on knowing that a "preponderance" of something meant an absolute majority of something rather than the largest single grouping.

It was frustrating testing experience all-around; my actual LSAT was tied with my worst practice test. Even my diagnostic was a 176.

But then again, if I'd pulled a 176 or better I'd probably have gone to law school, so it all worked out in the end.

Same with the LSAT. I was disgusted with my first post-college job and decided very last second to register for the Feb LSAT in late December. Didn't even know prep courses were a big thing, and didn't realize how big a deal the LSAT was.

I did buy a copy of a prep test online, though. I scored a 168 cold on the prep test and figured that would be enough for where I wanted to go. Got to the actual test, spent wayyy too much time on the first logic game which for some reason I couldn't crack, then panicked and probably got about close to a zero on the entire logic games section. It was awful. I'm damn sure I must have scored near a perfect on the rest of the test to get a 163.

Also, remember, I was a prole who didn't know the whole "education" game. I was just a public school kid who got tortured by blacks for 12 years, didn't know enough that studying for the SAT and LSAT are big things, and I certainly had no one advising me to apply to Ivy League or other prestigious schools. I applied to a single public university.
