T4R is 180 but has 2 serious faults: underpowered af and lacks basic technology

JGC ride great, is fast (w/hemi), has tech ( adaptive cruise is 180), but quality is a bit ttt and reliability is a gamble.

Fatal flaw in the JGC is that its a FCA product which means you will get to know the service department really well.

I have a V8 4runner and I fucking love it. Would love to get a TRD pro in the future.

The new 4runners have plenty of technology imo

5th gen lacks v8 and tech sucks. no adaptive cruise, led/xenons headlights, safety tech like backup intervention (good if you have little kids)

But it's a super HQ Japan made off road monster

Do what I did and install a backup camera yourself. I bought a receiver with screen for $200 and the camera for $20 off amazon.

Led lights arent a dealbreaker to me since its so fucking expensive to replace

How is your 4th gen on the hyw? Comfortable for long trips? I rock an Infiniti right now so I am used to solid on road manners while being pretty quiet at 80+ mph.

It wont be as quiet as your infiniti. It was better for me since I was coming from a GMC Sierra.

If you're coming from a luxury car then I would recommend you look at either a used Cayenne or Q7

Can't imagine those will be any more reliable than a JGC. I can deal with a little more noise if it means more off road capability.

Audi and Porsche are some of the most reliable cars on the road. The gripe is that repairs will be more expensive.

Buying it CPO will give you the added benefit of an extended warranty just in case.

I guess its a good segue to one day owning a Range Rover.

Nah. I have almost 100k miles and very little has gone wrong (one fuel pump, some crap like heated seats). Cheap and comprehensive extended warranty covers it. Otherwise, it is cheap to maintain and service intervals aren't bad at all.

Cr. If you're the type of person who drives vehicles into the ground, and I am, the unlimited bumper to bumper is 180. It covers everything other than wear items and when the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the vehicle they cut you a check for the book value.

Took you 23 whole minutes to get ITT. You're slipping in your old age.

You should compensate for the delay with an excessive volume of posting ITT, ideally in multiple lengthy subthread wastelands.

Buy an 06 or 07* Land Cruiser from a souther state with low six digit miles or less, and never buy another car again.

*I believe those are the only years with the variable valve timing heads, but I may be mistaken. Refarsless, the important distinction between model years is when they switched over to 5 speed transmissions, which I believe happened in 04 or 05.

Lol, nor should you be. You can get one in excellent shape for $20k. Anything priced much higher than that probably has insanely low mileage given its age, which will likely lead to more maintenance headaches than one that was driven and serviced regularly.
