I wasn't in law school yet in 2005 and I make like 7 times what I made as an engineer that year.

I'll tell you in April 2018. Just made partner in December and joined partnership Jan 1. 750k is an estimate but pretty solid since we already had a massive contingency hit back in march.

Doesn't work that way. I get a draw of roughly 22k each month then a huge lump sum in January 2018. Each month I take home about 15k of that after taxes and health care and whatever else.

Either way they're a drain on the productive members of the economy. It's a benefit to society when they're lives are shortened so that they spend less time taking from everyone else. It's also great if you can get them to take less (employed at shit jerb v heroin) but if they live at a level of actual financial stability then they'll want to breed too much. We should really allow these people to accept government heroin and sterilization and then just let them go to town killing themselves. We should also do common sense things like repeal speed limits, make drunk driving that doesn't threaten the safety or injure anyone else like a speeding ticket, and allow mobile phone use while driving and just let the smart people work remotely and order groceries from an app for a few years while we clear out the dead wood.

All the systemic trends point toward everything up until 2008 being gone, forever, this is the new normal

Ur OP is flawed because you are comparing the economy to the market crash. The market has recovered, bigly. The "economy", well it depends who you ask.

The economy =/= the stock market. Important numbers to look at are GDP and % of people in workforce between ages 25 and 54. Both are way down since 2000, though the stock market has recovered since 2008 crash. Things don't look great for America, as a whole, long term. Would you rather be a doctor/lawyer/dentist now or in 1995 (on average)?
