if you can handle science just major in chem which is a decent double major. neuroscience is just psych and phi classes with like one or two non-science major chem and bio classes.

This particular Neuroscience major is heavy bio (Bio 1, Bio 2 + 4 bio electives), includes a chemistry minor (Chem 1, Chem 2, Orgo 1, Orgo 2, Biochem) and requires research in the school's neuroscience lab which is somewhat prestigious. Thoughts?

None of the above. I am too, but also have a genuine interest in the discipline, however nascent. That's probably worth cultivating, right? FWIW, a lot of students out of this program have been published in prominent neuroscience journals and few even as lead author (as undergrads).

See above. Psychology is distinct from this (relatively) science-heavy major though a few classes are part of the neuroscience major (neuroscience of memory, psychopharmacology, cognitive neuroscience). Does this change your opinion? What would you recommend as an alternative to someone who is interested in a career in neurotechnology?

So I'm also considering the business school BBA as I have the pre-reqs for entering the major (Macro, Micro, Accounting 1 & 2). The major consists of:

Calculus

Statistics

Econometrics

Business Law

Corp Finance

Spreadsheet Programming

Business Ethics

Business Writing

2 Finance electives (investment analysis, markets, options, futures)

2 Econ electives (money & banking, international econ, financial econometrics, applied financial analysis)

2 additional Econ electives

Thoughts on the strength of the cirriculum?

How much math do u need? Some programs require Calc 1, 2, Dif Eq and Linear Algebra

Any desire to do PhD Econ? If so, double major in math. I sometimes wish I went this route.

I'd take the more "quantitative" econ classes mainly - econometrics, corp finance, financial economics, game theory, Applied financial analysis, etc.

Literally only need Calc I and you can take a bullshit Social Sciences Calc if you really wanted to. No desire to do graduate level Econ - don't think I am smart enough to be brutally honest. They do indeed have a ton of quantitative econ classes, as electives, which would require all of the math classes you mentioned

yeah, up to you, but those classes would be more useful if u end up being an analyst (esp econometrics since you're using STATA and shit)

econ at the grad level is very math heavy...most of the doods are double math/econ majors

I think accounting is a safe, easy major to choose though, fwiw

yeah thats standard and fine. business isnt a bad major. i think its inferior to engineering/computers for recruiting, but its solid. lib arts is just a terrible idea unless youre at harvard and even then youre wasting a harvard education and might even be detrimental to getting you hired. obviously the reputation of the schools bschool will be relevant in your decision though and if youre not comfortable with your chances at gettting into decent consulting or finance you might be better off loading up on accounting and trying to do that route but it depends.

The critical question that no one has asked is what do you want to do after you graduate? If you want to do grad work in neuroscience/neurotechnology, my sense is that you'd be better off majoring in something more rigorous (or at least that's seen as more rigorous). That's probably true for most prestigious entry-level neurotechnolgoy jerbs as well. But if you just find it interesting and don't necessarily want to make it into a career, then go for it. Unless you do a pre-professional major (think accounting or nursing) or you want to do something STEM-related, most majors are more or less interchangeable. Indeed, if you're at a prestigious school where something like banking is a realistic possibility, having an unusual major can work in your favor, because apparently they like hiring people with a variety of different backgrounds. I have a friend who was gunning for i-banking who majored in classics for precisely this reason. (And he got it, in case anyone was wondering.)
