Hilariously an engineer approached me nervously the next day asking some weird questions about structural elements. I said what's going on? He says "We found a beam on the ground level." In other words they had forgotten to put up a beam. LOL holy shit, gov projects are a fucking joke. |

However: Union tradesmen getting paid 600% more than market wage (total compensation, not exaggerating) is a raw deal for the everyone else who pays taxes because it seems like every single job that is union is a Port Authority/other gov job. So these projects cost the taxpayer way more than they should
Also have you heard of "MBE" = Minority-owned Business Enterprise? And WBE = Women-owned Business Enterprise? Basically if you are pakistani/mexican etc. you will get the contract before a White man. It is a scandal. |

Date: July 15th, 2017 7:41 PM Author: Mint theatre Dude I have heard of those two entities and WOW are they scams, even worse is that usually it is the relation or wife who is the "frontperson" for the enterprise and the people behind the scenes are whites or just some random other corrupt people.
There is a lot of dishonest behavior like that in the land. Where the storehouses of the wealthy hold the wages that ought to be given to the poor and the laborers to make their burden easier.
I also know the Union thing and it is a real art to dealing with it - we shouldn't have let the unions get so weak because now they make these outlandish extreme (600% over minimum wage, cadillac insurance with high risk pools, other perks) situations. |

The Local 15 and Local 30 Operating "Engineers" get 200K per year, no joke (BIGCRANE operator is true) And that includes when they are just filling gas tanks with fuel b/c there are only so many cranes on the site, though the union contract stipulated that the gov needs to hire a certain (huge) number of journeymen! When i first started I saw that a crane had this one guy standing on the crane tracks just talking to the crane operator. I said "gee that guy is slacking!" and the whole day went by, and the guy didn't move- he was just hanging out with the operator. After a week I observed that every single crane had a guy like this. Turns out, they call him the "oiler" --- even though he does almost no oiling !(considering the crane RARELY moves). but it is in the contract, and here the guy is collecting $200,000 to do NOTHING.
also the government gives these minorities contracts for WAY more than the next highest bidders. total scandal. |
