Pretty sure it's documented that people have chemical imbalances and poor serotonin production.

If you'd ever had a real schizophrenic in your life, you'd know that some people are just imbalanced.

If you believe some people are legit crazy, why couldn't you believe there could be depression.

It's all about chemical balance. So, yeah. I think it's legit.

i tend to agree with this but a part of me wonders if it's a chicken-egg situation. is it possible that depression leads to the chemical imbalances and poor serotonin production in question?

I suffered from it when I was younger, now it's just mild when I get bouts. Back in the day, I would get so depressed that I physically hurt, it felt like sandpaper rubbing my chest. That shit is real and it is terrible, I feel for anyone who really has it. It is different from being down or just having a bad day, it fucking hurts. I understand why people kill themselves who have it, they probably just want the pain to stop - I get that 100%.

imho, depression is a real condition that is a product of not living a life of meaning. this of course begs the question of what is a life of meaning. and with that ymmv.

for the most part both - there's a measurable change in brain chemistry, but for 95% of depressionmos they should just sack up because society enabled their bitchmadeness for too long
