We havent had a meal over $100 in months.

However my lunch is always around $15 in Century City and hers is $10 where she works. and we seldom cook - so even casual restaurants or take out run us between $25-60 for the both of us.

Shit fucking adds up fast.

Stop eating lunch and take a walk / go to the gym instead as a break. Snack on some nuts and coffee during the day.

EDIT: Including weekends, you guys are spending almost $30K a year on likely unhealthy food, which is absurd.

My cousins in Colombia have it made. They have live in maids and grandparents live three blocks away. Grandma plays with the kids as much as she wants during the day and then the maid cooks/ cleans. When parents get home, they have energy to play with the kids because they don't have to cook or clean. Plus, the kids grow up around their grandparents

i definitely have more time, but I also work hard and have a stressful job too. As the primary breadwinner I don't want to have to worry about being the one to walk the fucking dog, come home when the repairman comes over to fix the water heater and make fucking meals for the week.

If you're too lazy to cook during the week, prep meals on weekends and buy sandwich ingredients to make quick lunch in the mornings....at the very least, that should cut costs by half and is much healthier as well. Saving $12k/year is substantial.

his wife has a long commute and leaves really early in the morning to go to work...I think they can figure out what works best for their marriage as far as cooking duties are concerned.

"cooking duties" arent hard to "figure out" - its the duty of the wife to cook

Do you have a slow cooker? Get one, it makes eating your own food so much easier. My husband works 70 hours a week (15min commute) and is planning to quit. Your wife is nuts and this likely isn't sustainable.

$25 for lunch, $50 for dinner? LJL. Stop eating lunch you fat fuck. You ever hear of intermittent fasting? Say goodbye to lifting and basketball now that you've copped breakfasttt. You need to cut your calories by a lot since as you age you'll become more and more chair-bound.

earl, learn how to boil angel hair pasta and pour some sauce over it for two dinners a week. Salad is easy, just wash some spinach off, throw some feta cheese and italian dressing on it and you are good. Buy some sliced turkey and decent bread and make sandwiches (they can be fucking awesome with the right condiments and take 2 minutes to make)

Also don't buy literally 20 tequila shots when you go out drinking.
