Shakespeare's English was rhotic, unlike current British received pronunciation. People performing Shakespeare's plays back then would sound like pirates to us.

Fun fact: American Sign Language and British Sign Language are completely unintelligible to each other because the first school for the deaf in America was founded by a teacher who studied in France and brought back a sign teacher from there. ASL is in the French Sign Language family.
