True, it's lower than the historical returns of stocks and bonds. But you'll have peace of mind. Don't have to be glued to the screen waiting for bubbles and crashes.

You say that as if there is zero risk. The treasuries that are pretty much zero risk don't yield that much more than these accounts, but without FDIC insurance.

You still have to monitor any portfolio of bonds and stocks you have.

It's an online-only bank. No physical branches. You can deposit checks using their phone app.

It used to be GMAC's banking unit until 2009 when the name was changed and it went online-only.

Just the FDIC limit of 250k to be insured. You can put more, it's just the excess is not insured.

To earn these interest rates, no, it doesn't have an upper limit (other banks often do). You earn the stated interest rate on the full amount you have deposited.

Money market accounts typically yield more than savings accounts. Plus I believe you can draft up to 6 checks a month with a money market.

It's also FDIC insured.

Capital One is better because of the access to branches and ATMs. Plus you link a checking account if you need to write a lot of checks.

Unlike Ally, Capital one has a million branches and ATMs. In NYC at least. So you link it with a checking account and use the latter account for liquidity. You can actually make up to 6 transactions a month with a money market.
