The difference is, while Harvard is just taking a chunk of the top-flight students for other groups (there are far more qualified Asians than Harvard is willing to admit), they're taking a much larger percent of the most-qualified black kids. So where you really see AA reaching into the bottom of the barrel is at the other Ivies and other slightly-less elite schools. I can see how such a thing would be in their interests, but I don't think it's in the country's interests. |
