Example of white/asian privilege

Date: August 9th, 2017 2:20 PM Author: Coiffed razzle parlour So on Sunday I was playing basketball in Carson at some shitty gym in an industrial area. The gym parking lot was full so my teammate (30 year old black guy from Yale) and I had to find other parking - I suggested we park in the lot next door, which has a bunch of industrial small businesses and is coincidentally where I bought my AR-15 last year.
The lot had businesses only signs, but whatever.
After the game we walk back to the lot and both the entrance and the exit to the lot were closed (sliding gate) with sharp gate spikes to discourage trespassers.
I circle around the building with my friend and see there is a spot where the fence meets a brick wall of the neighboring property. I ask him if he wants to do the honors and he looks aghast and scared. I say fuck it and I climb the wall, jump the fence, make my way around the parking lot and get into my car - when my car hits the exit sensor the exit gate opens and my friend walks in and gets his car too. We leave without incident.
Didn't realize till after that I probably have a very different perspective as to what it means to casually jump and fence and trespass onto private property for relatively innocent purposes. I did it a bunch as a kid and got scolded at worst. I wonder if as a black dude he is much more wary to do anything like that. He also never speeds more than 5 mph, which is annoying when we carpool.
I'll ask him this weekend, but I thought that was interesting. |

For the individual black who wishes to be viewed differently it's unfair to get lumped in with the rest of his race and be prejudged. Look at all the current black icons. Most celebrate a very materialistic lifestyle lacking wisdom or virtue or ethics. They glorify criminality as an acceptable response to victimization.
I think MLK would be rolling in his grave at what has become of black culture. |
