Yesterday, she came home and found her room broken into and robbed - money gone. Her room was the only room robbed, but her room is the only one with a separate entrance/exit.

Today, she watched video footage of a camera to the main entrance, and saw that a roommate's bf went into the apt at 7 pm on the night of robbery, but he never leaves through the main entrance. Then the camera shows him coming back into the apt through the main entrance at 1:30 am and leaves through the front door again at 6:30 am.

This means that he must've exited through friend's apt and taken her money.

She's already called the cops after the robbery, but has not shared the info on the video footage.

She really needs the money for the move. What's the right move to get it back?

but if she confronts him and threatens him with evidence, he might give the money back to avoid potentially getting pwned with grand larceny.

you cant show him the video first then go to the cop, would give him a chance to create an alibi which he probably already has constructed
