My grandfather also ate like this (biscuits with syrup at breakfast) and lived to his late 80s. But he was always thin and stayed active, which I think is the key

Probably a good portion due to genetics. My other grandfather (god rest his soul) died in his early 70s from heart failure. He was trim, ate veggies from his garden, etc. Better to be lucky than good I suppose.

Spent the weekend with him. Saturday morning he had a can of peaches, toast, a cheap pastry and microwaved a day old donut. We went out to his shop where took apart a brand new (less than an hour on it) tractor engine because he thought the idle wasn't adjusting right. We drank beer until dinner, when he made my uncle go to a second pizza parlor because he thinks take and bake shit is trash. He then spent 10 mins slicing a super thin layer of the bottom crust off because they always over cook it.
