1) they are racially polarizing and that is not needed right now

2) they waste municipalities an inordinate amount of money. U. of FL. is about to spend $500,000 on security for the next one and a state of emergency declaration appears imminent.

3) they are more about fame and notoriety for prominent figures. the anarchist, BLM, christian rallies, etc. etc. are usually about the movement and not about figureheads. this on the other hand seems more about a few people getting notoriety and they could care less about even their own followers who are getting sued based on these rallies.

I support free speech, but this is dumb.

Soros is known to fund groups that instigate violence, usually Antifa or other leftist groups. I could see him funding these far right group hoping his leftist groups show up to stir up trouble. MSM reports only on the violence by the far right, no mention of Antifa

BLM is definitely the same on 1. Less so on 2. I cannot name any BLM figureheads by name. I can name several unite the right heads by name even though I barely watch the news.

blm has wasted much more in the way of resources. think of all the riot cops that have been deployed, all of the property damage, etc.

and when you talk about protection being given to rightist speakers i think some of that falls on blm et all too. remember when chicago tried to deploy some protection at UIC when trump was set to speak there and they had to shut it down anyways because blm and other leftist groups wouldn't stand for it? it's not like trump was wrong for trying to speak there even though he needed protection. could make a somewhat similar argument for some of these rightist dudes.

i don't think much of this 'unite the right' shit accomplishes much but these criticisms seem like reaches when put in context.

you don't see 3 with leftist fringe groups because even if they're associated with a particular cause they spawn out of anarchism and communism and always need a "decentralized power structure" while rightist groups are typically the exact opposite and put a premium on hierarchy

there's not really a structure to unite the right, is there? isn't it basically a few bloggers saying "lets go to X city with torches" and then a bunch of people from all over show up.

idk dude

all im saying is that shit like BLM, Occupy, etc. never has a figurehead associated with it because its consistent with their goals/ideology and that's also why its the opposite case with the alt-right and generally every white nationalist movement that has gathered a lot of media attention. so yeah i mean people do look at these bloggers as "leaders"

there's still much more structure to that than blm, which is basically just the local hordes taking up a popular slogan. blm isn't like black panthers.

the point is to take the ideas beyond 4/8chan into public discourse, even if the ideas don't get fair representation in the media (point 3 is missing the point). insofar as they expose e.g. literal berkley communists to the public eye, i think it's a good, but inevitably it's going to have some awfully cringe-inducing elements.
