Hard to summarize, but he does not advocate at all trying to time the market all the time. historically there's a big dip every year but the stock market still gains year after year, so taking your money out just realizes those losses

Do you understand how pointless this is. The SP is up 15% YTD. If it drops 10% tomorrow, you've still lost out on gains since the beginning of the year. Who knows how much higher it goes before a 10% drop. Market timing does not work.

That's one perspective. This assumes he had cash ready to invest at the beginning of the year. However, if he just threw his money at the high, he would have lost 10% if the market drops 10% tomorrow. Timing the market CAN work if you're diligent and pay attention (realizing what gains come from increased profits vs. hype that will inevitably disappear during the next correction)

You would have multiple properties (to both use and rent out), millions in the bank and in various securities, great car, great apartment in the city and a great villa outside the city, the ability to travel the world, eat a great restaurants, etc.

Fatal flaw in this is that you won't know until tomorrow what precisely will happen and whether the market reaches another all time high or crashes. before you know it, months and years may have passed.

Stock markets always dig out of crashes, so if you invest during a crash you're always going to come out ahead. Now, if you invest in highs you'll also do ok, but it will take longer to get ahead. I know, I know, there are people at your fund dying to learn more...

Imagine if you had a bunch of money to invest in NASDAQ in March 1997. You could either invest it at a consistent rate, or wait to invest it all until after a big crash, which didn't happen until March 2000. If you waited to invested all of the money in NASDAQ until after the crash, you wouldn't have recovered your money until October 2013. You would've recovered your money years earlier if you did a simple dollar-cost averaging.

Why? Partly because the market ran up an insane amount in the two years before finally crashing, and partly because the market crashed *again* a few months after it crashed.

Nobody is saying not to invest during a crash. The question is whether you should wait for one to happen and miss out on gains prior to the crash. They have done many studies on this and waiting around does not beat dollar cost averaging.
