?

Skyline seems pretty legit, especially compared to nearby DC and Baltimore. Skyscrapers were illegal there for a long time.

Up until recently there was an ordinance or something that prevented any building from being taller than the William Penn statue on top of city hall.

if anything the skyline is probably bigger than it needs to be... there are like 10 big buildings huddled together in a 5 block radius and then everything else is tiny. you basically feel like you are in NYC for a few minutes and then you walk a little further and you're in a little city.

Philly is getting a new building approximately the same size as the Empire State bldg, that should jazz things up a little.

DC-style height restriction until late 80s. Taking that into account, it's not bad. They also have a quality-over-quantity thing going on. Really like both liberty place towers and both of the new comcast towers. The 2 Cesar Pelli towers near their train station are nice too, masterpieces of that hip "shard of glass" style that I think is only OK generally.
