honestly, aside from xo wanting to hate on RSF, tOSU is decently strong academically. it's not quite on the level of Michigan/Berkeley/UVA/UCLA/UNC but it's also not that far off IMO. it's definitely a 'problem' for lots of families in Ohio where the parents both went to tOSU and want their kids too but admissions are too competitive. pretty sure 75% of freshman have ~1360-1420 level SATs or higher. a lot of them probably take the ACT instead so it's like 28-32 or whatever but still. academics/admissions aren't a total joke.

but my parents are from the midwest and so i hear about their friends' kids and college. i think these days getting into OSU requires high 20s/low 30s ACT or mid-high 1300s SATs and on into the 1400s. probably higher for OOS.
apart from like MSU all the Big10 schools are reasonably solid academically. you can't have total shit grades and test scores and get into OSU, UIUC, Indiana, and Iowa even |

the school's definitely not a total joke, and clearly way ahead of lots of division I publics that basically let anyone with a pulse in (texas tech, arizona state, u arkansas, etc) |

i don't think people with bottom 40% class ranks and 22s on the ACT are getting in, so i think it's justified to say tOSU is not like texas tech or over half of the SEC publics. it's not Columbia or Duke but it's clearly not a total TTT shithole either. |
