when my wife was growing up, she called her mom's parents grandma and grampa, and she called her dad's parents baba and zeda (Yiddish terms for grandma and grampa)
I grew up calling all my grandparents grampa and grandma. I was never confused as to who was being discussed. I could handle ambiguity and resolve it using context clues.
My parents are immigrants and they have ethnic terms for grandma and grampa that we could theoretically use. But I think its simpler to just use grandma and grampa for both sets of parents. |
