Wife gets depressed when looking at FB friends taking trips

Date: October 23rd, 2017 1:52 PM Author: Swashbuckling Digit Ratio our HHI is ~$300k and we save $7-8k/month in savings/investment/retirement funds. she sees her "friends" on FB poast pics of their lavish trips and she gets depressed. she says these friends don't really have great jobs or come from rich families, so why can they take these trips and we can't (we do take about one trip a year)? I tell her it's because we are going to come out at the end in a better position because of our savings. Wife is seeing everyone's highlight reel. Their life is (generally) no more exciting then hers.
My ex used to do this all the time, despite us going on many Vegas weekends, trips to Napa/Maui, etc. Nothing was ever enough for her to "compete" with her friends. She would get pissed when I didn't want to "compete" with them. |
