Houston or Dallas or Maybe Atlanta. Not a fan of the sunbelt sprawl.

Dallas is not bad. It's got a decent downtown even if the suburbs are extremely sprawly and it's basically surrounded by nothing. At least the weather is better than Houston.

Been to Atlanta twice and I was extremely unimpressed. Really shitty.

whoa just realized the link you posted gives a higher population for DC than Houston, yet ranks Houston higher. WTF Wikipedia?

also, how about Philadelphia and Miami almost exactly the same population to within the margin of a high school football stadium

I'm actually surprised it has as many people as it does. Every other metro area has some industry and/or big research/educational institutions. Phoenix seems like a podunk town.

It has bigger companies than you think. Like CVS corporate has like a 5K employee hub, lots of regional financial, transportation, etc. ASU is pretty big and Mayo has a huge presence.

not sure if you're implying it'd be the worst of the top 10, but it's not that bad there. they have good golf and some nice areas (e.g., scottsdale).

DFW, then Philly

DFW has awful weather: ice storms in winter/ brutally hot summers, is kand-locked and far from everything, and is a generally bland/boring posing town.

Philly is just SPS, but at least has beautiful suburbs, and is close to D.C./NY. and the ocean

gotta be houston for the triple-whammy of shit weather, shit city/downtown, and shit suburbs.

All the other places have at least something going for them. the only thing houston has is that it's cheap, and that's really only if you live really far from the center.
