when u want to make a parody thread and u aren't naturally very funny, don't have anything clever to say, or are just kind of a fag, it's often a good idea to give the title some symmetry with the original so the reader isn't left with the suspicion that u probably struggled ur way to a C- in freshman english

The original thread being parodied ( http://www.xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=3786742&mc=7&forum_id=2 ) is just a variant of a very, very old joke whereby one names a category and then reveals it's an empty set. This joke was old when usenet was new, and I suspect it goes back much farther than that.

Proles fucking love this joke, so much so that there were variants of this for both sides in the last election ("Reasons to vote for Democrats"/"Reasons to trust Donald Trump") and entire websites set around the "joke" of selling blank books (e.g., "Sex after marriage"): http://www.blankgagbooks.com/

So the thread being parodied wasn't particularly clever to begin with.

But our OP is something special here, because even though the joke is so simple he didn't fucking get it.

"Comprehensive list of putdowns by xo reptiles", by itself, is most of the way to following the formula but 'putdowns' would need some sort of adjective to make it work; witty, intelligent, brutal, incisive, 180, etc. Then the "joke" would be complete because it would indirectly state that no xo reptile has ever made a 180 putdown. Without something complimentary, the "joke" becomes that an xo reptile has never putdown anybody, which lacks any satirical logic to make it funny except maybe as an "xo reptiles are too nice" joke, but nobody believes that.

But then OP takes it a step further and thinks, "What else can I say about reptiles? Oh, I know, they're making up for their life failures!" But with the stem he already established, he's now saying that no xo reptile has ever uttered a putdown as a mechanism for compensating for their life failures, which isn't really an insult but is also too specific and random to be a compliment.

The silver lining is that the OP apparently meant this in earnest, is trying to defend it, and the joke is so mangled that it somehow becomes funny again.

Congratulations, OP. You have completely failed where a lesser man would have only somewhat failed.
