It's a super high margin business as there is very little COGS or operating expenses associates with putting partners on the platform. Roku is smart to focus more on platform revenue vs device sales.
Furthermore, with more people cutting the cord and relying on OTT streaming services for media content, Roku is in a great position as it controls 37% of the U.S. OTT streaming devices market. Amazon Fire TV is in second at 24% market share and Google chromecast is at 18%.
