Above average in his studies, but far from a standout, he was liked by teachers and so matriculated to his state’s land-grant flagship. Having chosen a themed, quasi-study floor, dorm life suited him. He was surrounded by people just like him and with the social playing field leveled he became a leader in this new, more homogenous and cloistered friend group. Everyone here was a little chubby or a little weird and thanks to his time on the periphery of his high school cool kids, Tswiftp emerged as a sort of leader for all the saccharinely sweet activities they organized. He was by far the boldest in the group and would leap at the chance for some college hijinks. He did well enough with the 6.5s in his friend group but was the kind of person who masturbated to professional quality porn filled with made up 9s. His politics were boring and standard, mostly consistent with the rest of his family. He was a nice guy.

He was a bit of a dabbler in college, embracing an education that was a mile wide and an inch deep. He would get really into certain hobbies or projects but never quite committed to the endeavor. So he found himself in law school. He viewed himself as a leader and thought he could make a difference. Law school and the brutal reality of the legal profession ended his optimistic streak. But he was a man of character and so, quite admirably, hobbled together a solo practice by starting with the dregs of the legal clientele and through hard work and determination built a respectable practice he could truly call his own. It may be shitlaw, but it’s the kind of shit law that pays the bills and is fun.

But he needed a new persona to go along with his newfound place in the legal community. He had always been ‘soft’ and so vowed to change that. He hit the gym but didn’t give up the cheeseburgers. Influenced by a somewhat obscure message board for lawyers his politics slowly, then suddenly, drifted to the right. He began purchasing firearms and affecting the slick, pugnacious pose of a criminal defense lawyer. You still wanted to squeeze his cheeks but the transformation was complete. He had become a badass in his own mind.

But he was still a geek at heart and unlike most lawyers had actually done the work to be good at his job. Facing the combatants he regularly faces in his not quite Metro, not quite rural, but definitely full of hicks jurisdiction he became convinced that he was exceptional. Add in his technical skills and educational pedigree and it was undeniable he was and is on his way to the top of the [redacted] criminal bar. Despite all this, he never feels as if he gets the respect he truly deserves on that obscure internet message board and so spends much of his energy fighting with various commentors who are clearly less successful than a nascent shitlaw king. His legal profession betters just enjoy the trashing, while remaining mildly jealous of the practice he has built.

Tl;dr: He thinks he’s hot shit but is still a nervous chubby kid desperate for approval.
