When is too soon to take days off in biglaw?

Unfortunately there was a death in my family - not someone I was close to - and while I don’t really feel like I have to be there, I do think my family might appreciate it. It doesn’t matter you were not close to your grandpa. Going to the funeral is more about spending time with your family than anything else. 10 years from now, the path that your career takes will not reflect whether you took this trip or whatever else days you take off for whatever reason.
If you don’t take the time off, however, you may deeply regret 10 years from now not spending time with your family. People can die suddenly. Family is all you have in life. |
