boomer men often shattered their own families with hardly a second thought, as evidenced by the explosive divorce rate once boomers became adults. in this sense, although they have arrogated the title of "patriarch," they have failed to perform the duties contained within the title, and probably don't even understand what they are failing to do.
they also believe, as a result, that all men are like themselves - scheming, greedy, backstabbing - and that "helping" them could only degrade the boomer position within a zero-sum contest. the "solution" is to empower employees - women, especially younger ones - who lack the capacity to threaten the boomer male in this manner. |
