Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey says she plans to vote for Republican Roy Moore for U.S. Senate even though he faces accusations of sexual misconduct.

Ivey told reporters Friday that a factor in her decision is maintaining GOP control of the Senate. She says the state needs to send a Republican to Washington, so she intends to vote for the Republican nominee.

Ivey has previously been noncommittal about voting for Moore amid accusations he sexually molested young women and tried to date teenage girls.

Ivey says she has no reason to disbelieve women who have come forward to make allegations of wrongdoing by Moore. But she adds: "The timing is a little curious."

she should have said "even if the allegations are true, so what? there are far worse things."

She basically did. In a press conference, she pretty much said it's more important that the Senate be GOP-controlled for many reasons, including so that they can make judicial appointments

she is right. Anyone who knows even a little about Alabama politics over the past decade or two knows that "The timing is a little curious." Roy Moore has been in major polarizing elections there and pissed a lot of people off multiple times. He was the one that directed county clerks to ignore US SCOTUS gay marriage decision and to not issue marriage licenses to them, for goodness sake.

Are you really telling me that these women are just now figuring out what they are accusing him of? It would have been devastating for these allegations to come out during any of his AL SCOTUS elections.
