If you were in AK, I'd share my lenses with you. How is that 58/1.4 voigt?

You could get some really nice high end AIS lenses for less than the Tamron.

Likewise (I'm in OK, sadly) The Voigt is absolutely amazing--easily my favorite of the bunch, the colors are intense and it's really really well made, super sharp stopped down too; I use mine mostly for pictures indoors

I think my 70-200/2.8 is bolted to my camera... have the trinity, but really like the compression of longer focal lengths. Also love the shallow dof of big aperture lenses like your 1.4. My coolest pictures have come from my 400/2.8 though. Hard to beat that lens, it's just so impractical for 99.9% of uses.

I need to get out and shoot moar.

I used a micro four thirds system for a couple of years, upgrading to full-frame was a revelation... finally feels like a real camera

the 400/2.8 must be amazing (and ridiculously heavy)

I love my zooms... I was all about the primes when I first started, but have finally accepted that they're easier and better

Same story as mine. Started with the A7 and old Nikon MF lenses. Bought the D750 and love the way it feels in my hand. I suck with OCF, but really enjoy the DSLR AF over MF. I just get so many more keepers.

I do miss my A7 though... I think I shot a lot more experimenting with old lenses.

I remember you talking about it! You had all the Russian lenses too

The prices are pretty reasonable for a used A7 or something like a Fuji X100S, you could just keep it in your car

I might get another one. I still have those russian lenses. They were super cheap and basically only work on mirrorless. I still have the adapters for e-mount. Might pick one up.

What's your normal moniker? Is this indubitably?

Ahhh gotcha.

I've bought quite a bit on there. It's depressing looking at the forums and seeing just how talented some "hobbyist" photographers are.

Are you divorced now? Haven't seen much poasting (or at least your moniker has changed a bunch).

If people are poasting a bunch after a hiatus, I usually assume things aren't going well.

Still with her, mostly because we were doing a joint project and couldn't escape... but now we're getting along pretty well... I'm kind of dating but not really so I'm still stuck in limbo, desperately looking for an academic position somewhere else. I might just move in with my folks.

That's a good observation. I'm definitely not at my best right now. Hope things are going well for you... this place can be a decent support system (if a slightly toxic one)

It's free. People are generally funny... and a lot smarter than I am, but I notice when I'm not poasting, I'm generally more active and much happier.

Things will improve. At least you have a hobby. That's more than a lot of poasters have, tbh.

I have an awesome version of the 17-35/2.8 too. I never use it. I think there was a time when I fantasized about becoming a war correspondent/photo-journalist when I was going through my divorce. Would just escape mentally. Then I realized they don't make very much money... and it's kind of dangerous.

I love to travel and just take the 24-70. I find it just about right for most stuff, if not always perfect. And with modern cameras it’s easy to stitch a few frames or crop in on these mega sensors to get the frame you need.

I've been playing around with multi-row panos with my 70-200. It's way more work than necessary, when a 24 would have taken almost the exact same shot.

I should start using 24-70 moar.

Up to 60 x 110” with D800 files. They look amazing on either metallic or acrylic. Used Bay Photo for the big prints and have been very happy with their service.

Use MPix for basic prints and books. They’re great too.

Oh nice! I printed my first ones this summer (just dinky 8x10s) and it was glorious fun... my next project will be about 17 40x60s, I'm hoping I can get my school's print lab to do them otherwise I'll check those out

Nice!

I've literally never printed a single picture I've taken.

My parents ripped some FB pictures and had them printed on canvas at costco. They actually turned out really well, despite being downsized to 1024 long side.
