teaching creds are done state by state, i believe. i feel like it'd be easier to teach in flyover states plus they let u do online credentialing.
i went to HS in flyover - lot of my teachers were former professional burnouts who wanted to teach at a middle class, public white suburban high school. the job is way easier in a middle class, white suburban school than inner city. |

starting salary is 45-50k and ramp up to 120k plus pension after 20-25 years
you can look up the info on publicly available data, but even down south teachers can start at around 40-50k, which is not bad for the super low COL
NYC starts teachers at around 55-60k, then ramp up a little faster, but given the high COL (and worse working conditoins), it's easier teaching in flyover |

it's a pretty sweet gig in some places
and they get 3 months off to do whatever, including tutoring for $$$
i used to tutor ONE kid and would make 5,000-6,000 under the table in one year just tutoring math for 2 hours a week. if you tutor 2 idiot rich kids in math/science, you can easily make 10k+ a year under the table |

i speak from actual experience because i tried it. |
