It was a lame joke about how "generic" in programming typically means this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generic_programming and has nothing to do with genetic programming

Agnostic on that, but what matters is finding the patterns that produce the behaviors we want. That's either impossible or not desirable.

would be interesting if this were a thing. how does it compile? how is an "output" produced?

would be cool if we had vats with various isolated molecules. and a super computer combining them for eternity, producing all possible compounds

If we limit to known elements I would still guess there's no upper bound on molecular weight/complexity. Not sure though maybe bonds get unstable after a certain size.

3) just like your opinion man, and when did we assert otherwise? I admitted my ignorance in a poast above, and asked you to help us move closer to understanding?

A link to an academic paper on the subject that is completely inaccessible to use would have proven your point much better brother.

To your point above, I have two friends who both know a bit about data machine learning. One is a huge dick whenever you ask about the subject making sure to point out how ignorant you are like the guy in this thread, and the other friend is super nice and willing to break things down like it's nbd.

Based on my own observation, I think the different responses to similar questions depend on the respondent's level of insecurity. That insecurity isn't necessarily related to their knowledge of the subject matter (though it can be), but their own estimation of self-worth. Dudes who are secure in themselves feel no need to put others down. They also tend to be more pro-social and more willing to help a friend or acquaintance.
