with the paper tution scam, the nsf pays the uni 70k, 30k of which it uses to pay the grad student's stipend and 40k of which it siphons for itself as covering the grad student's "tuition" even though they aren't taking any classes.
making these exact #s up, but you get the point. |

Anyway, I think it's a fundamental tax principal that people should pay taxes on "income" even if the income isn't money, so I think it makes sense, but it sounds like the whole issue as you portrayed it is about defrauding NSF and not about taxes.
I have no doubt there are people smart enough to structure around this though, so ultimately it probably won't do anything. |

but yes, ONE big issue is the unis bilking these grants. another big issues is these shitlib departments that need to be run out of town.
i agree, it would be easy to structure around this. this whole controversy is liberal anti-trump hysteria. |
