The plaintiff, David Scheinberg, claims that Ikea's stores are little more than mazes designed to keep shoppers trapped in an endless labyrinth of sofas, tables, and bed frames.
"I was there to buy a lamp, and got stuck in the mattress section for a good hour. I was calling for help at one point, but found myself completely boxed in by bedroom sets, end tables, and bathroom accessories," Scheinberg said. "It was very traumatic, and I deserve compensation!" he added.
Ikea disputes the allegations and insists its stores are designed to be welcoming and customer-friendly. Rumors that an Ikea executive spent days trapped in the towel department have been flatly denied.
