According to Ryan, "everything blew up" when Kelly tried to discuss Newman's walk-in privileges and access to Trump. Ryan reported Newman saying that "all hell will break loose" should she lose walk-in access to Trump.
"And he [Kelly] said okay ‘all hell is going to break loose’ and that’s where it all started," Ryan said.
“We’ll see if she comes back," Ryan said of Newman returning to the White House, noting the Secret Service said it deactivated her pass.
CBS News also reported that Newman was fired, noting she attempted to enter the White House residence and subsequently set off the alarms. The former "Apprentice" start also attempted to plead her case to keep her job to Trump's daughter and advisor, Ivanka Trump.
Manigault Newman previously served at the director of African-American outreach for Trump's presidential campaign and currently serves as the director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison, where she has served since January.
Previously, Manigault Newman was a reality TV star and contestant on season 1 of "The Apprentice," the NBC reality show formerly hosted by Trump. Because of her celebrity status, she is often referred to only by her first name, Omarosa. |
