This represents all you need to know about critics' reaction versus audience reaction:
"THERE IS A scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi—I won’t say too much, but you'll see it yourself—where a young Asian woman does a brave, selfless thing to help the Resistance. It’s a very sweet, very Star Wars Hero Moment, but it's also an important one. Los Angeles Times film writer Jen Yamato called out its significance for fans of color on Twitter, noting “films like these leave their mark on entire generations—representation matters.” She woke up the next morning to a stream of mentions telling her to “stop making everything about race.” Her reply? “I hope you all enjoy the new Star Wars.” The implication was obvious: They won't. The Last Jedi isn’t here to appease the old guard."

There were two of these moments.
In the first, Asian chick w friendship necklace on sacrifices self to set off bombs on first order ship. She was prob gonna die anyways though so prob not it
Second one is her sister, whose only character trait is her sister died before, drives her vehicle into Finns vehicle to prevent him from sacrificing himself to save others lol. She doesn’t die and neither does he. After they crash, he asks her why she did it and she says something like “we don’t fight to destroy what we hate but to save what we love”

Which part? The hokey “can u hear me now” moment?
The destruction of the bomber fleet for no reason?
The fact that all first order destroyers couldn’t combine to kill a single transport ship over 18 hours, but then the transport ship could just jump to light speed and kill a destroyer at any time?
The class warfare scene at the Vegas planet?
The entire Vegas planet plot that could be cut from movie entirely and nobody would notice?
Carrie fisher flying thru space like Peter Pan w no protection using the force ?
The Transport escape pod cloaking thing/mutiny that didn’t work so there was no point to either plot points?
The Who Are my parents plot that was resolved with “they were junkers that sold u, and u already knew this”?
The Death Star battering ram?
The main bad dude dying by someone turning on a lightsaber near him?
The fact that the main character in Star Wars that was to bring balance to the force was killed by turning to dust after faking out the main villain via hologram?
The fact that nobody’s motivation for anything is clear?
That a soldier and mechanic figured out how an unknown and unseen technology not only worked, not only which ship it would be on, but where on the ship it was located in a 30 second conversation?

For anyone still thinking XO is automatically overreacting:
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi Offers the Harsh Condemnation of Mansplaining We Need in 2017: An eerily perfect installment for the post-Trump era.
But by in large, The Last Jedi’s examination of gender politics does fit into this trilogy’s message that the true heirs to the power in this universe are not white men like Hux and Kylo but women and people of color. Though The Last Jedi began filming in early 2016—in other words, long before a referendum on Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton informed every aspect of American storytelling—it’s impossible to ignore the parallels on screen here.
The film’s progressive ideology is already ticking off some calcified corners of the fandom—the kind of fans who dismissed Ridley’s heroic Rey as a too-powerful “Mary Sue” after the last film. But just because some Star Wars lovers are out of reach for the message this movie delivers, there is still hope for a new generation. Just like that kid at the end of The Last Jedi, holding his broom aloft and wearing the resistance jewelry left behind by Rose, an entire generation of young Star Wars watchers will remember the brave, smart, capable women of The Last Jedi—and the consequences of doubting their leadership."

Just got back from it.
PC tripe.
Women leaders being wise, brave saviors.
Men getting mocked for being impetuous, quick-tempered, & violent.
Multiple forced interracial love interests.
Even a shot against eating meat.
