For at least a few months though, it seemed like there was just a genuine feeling of national unity and coming together that wasn’t really driven by an anti-Muslim mentality. I can’t remember hearing a lot of anti-Muslim rants even in my prole hometown. Then the Iraq war happened and everything got very hateful and divisive on both sides.
