i made it this year and my firm doesn't have a nonequity tier. having said that, while I don't know how much of my comp will be equity-based, I will likely be in the bottom tier, which is 10%. I might as well be a nonequity partner who just has to pay my own employment taxes, file a bunch of state returns, and give the firm money every month.

i will, i will. rainmaker who nominated me will probably be winding down over the next several years and has done a good job getting me and others integrated with his clients. he's also showing me the biz dev ropes, but who knows whether i have what it takes for that kinda shit.

in the end, even if i last 10ish years and wash out i don't really give a fuck.

we have a 3 year old, another on the way and about 700k invested in the market. if i last another several years and can keep socking away money, both for retirement and college tuition, i'll be good.
