"During the presidential campaign, Trump promised growth of 3.5% a year, and sometimes even 4%. There’s no disagreement that a sustained growth rate of this magnitude would be a significant achievement. Over the past decade, the economy has grown at an average of about 2% a year. The Congressional Budget Office forecasts an annual average of about 1.9% well into the next decade.

The U.S. hasn’t had sustained real annual growth (that is, over inflation) of better than 3% since the 1990s, with a brief spurt in 2004 and 2005. Making up the difference from 2% to more than 3% looks like a pipe dream...

Trump maintains that he can [grow the labor force] because — so he claims — Obama economic policies threw millions of Americans out of work... But unemployment statistics suggest instead that there isn’t much slack in the workforce. ... According to the Pew Research Center, unless immigration takes up the slack by providing 18 million more workers, the U.S. workforce will continue to shrink at least through 2035.

What are the prospects for that surge of immigration? Dim, obviously, as long as Trump’s hostility drives policy."

Blank check? Is that a joke? The GOP blocked a ton of legislation and imposed budget cuts during Obama's administration that suppressed GDP.

Now they're opening up the red ink floodgates and crowing about increased GDP numbers that have predictable resulted from deficit side stimulus.

According to the chart above 2009-2010 saw a 5+ point swing in GDP. Once the GOP won in Nov 2010, fiscal relief went out the window. But anyway, I find these partisan arguments silly. Any reasonable person would look at the past decade and conclude that gdp growth has been in a very narrow range, no matter the president or party. We've also had low inflation and low productivity growth and high income and wealth inequality. The underlying problems with first-world economies go way beyond short-term stimulus/tax cuts.

GDP is a garbage metric. GDP per capita is what matters. Since libs want open borders (guaranteeing that GDP per capita will steadily fall towards 0) this is not even a debate shithead obeezy can engage in meaningfully.

You're a 5'6" Chinese guy with a mulatto baby and a dead end job who wakes up every morning sprinting to spam shareblue talking points on a forum where literally no one respects you or cares what you think.
