they had ~30 seconds, three downs, and no timeouts. the best line would be chucking a couple (low risk) balls into the end-zone, maybe winning the game, and settling for OT with a field goal if neither pan out.
instead, they decide to throw in the middle of the field, don't stop the clock, and then instead of spiking the ball and tying the game on a field goal, try a moronic trick play that half the offense didn't know was coming and lose the game as a result.
even with the iffy call, steelers are still in a very favorable position, but big ben 'tarded out like no other. that's the kind of thing the patriots don't do and that's why they win a lot. |
