New or used? Either way, enjoy owning something that doesn't depreciate much. What you pay in gas, you make up for in reliability and resale; by far.

Semi-used. The dealership owner had been driving it, but I’m still first on the title. They knocked a good chunk off the price for it having ~1,500 miles on it, given that the depreciation curve on these things is basically flat.

Averaging 14mpg during suburban driving so far. No road trips to measure on yet.

Came down to $82 off the lot after the discount, taxes, and fees.

Quality feels like a million bucks. Potholes that used to be a severe jolt in my crossover don’t even register. Can’t wait to get it out on some trips.

My uncle and aunt just got their last kid out of college and are retiring/downsizing. Their realtor saw his ‘89 with 175k miles out back in the barn and offered him $30k cash before so much as sitting in it. My uncle politely declined. I found this out because I called to wish them a happy holidays (i.e., to ask if he’d sell me the truck) and was also politely rebuffed. So I went and bought this one for a daily driver instead.

It sells well outside the US market where they get more normally speced versions. But I think you're confusing it with the 4Runner, Highlander, or Sequoia, which are the big sellers in the US. I think Toyota moved close to 50k 4Runners last year and just a fuck ton of Highlanders. I really like that it blends in well with "normal" cars.

no. it's a very niche market. nobody wants a $90k Toyota. Toyota probably loses money selling it in the US. The Lexus clone outsells it 3:1 and even that isn't very popular.

few people want a very expensive, body on frame, workhorse SUV built to an extreme level of long-term quality. I mean the LC is nice but it's not exactly luxury inside like a Range Rover or anything.

Probably because you only see a car as a way to flash social status, like a woman.

Hey, I respect LCs though. I live in too urban an area to make that fly, plus, I want more speed.

Why does OP think this truck means FUCK LIBS?

I live in the hearth and home of shitlibbery and there are plenty of these rigs driving around. Most people do the WASP thing and have one that's older and is not their primary vehicle. Nobody looks at you in a TLC and says "damn that thing has some horses under the hood, fuck libs, uhhnnngggg." it's famous for being nondescript.

My last car was, against my wishes, a Subaru. When we got married my wife had a nice-ish Outback and I had a barely running Cherokee. We didn’t need two cars in the city, so mine went to live on a farm upstate.

In closing, can I please just have this one.
