We're two steps away from the despair stage of bitcoin, which could mean prices as low as $6000 (if it does what gold did in 1980) or even far lower, maybe even $3000 (if does what silver did in 1980). For those who can't tell, the black line on the bitcoin chart is the current price action, and the gold line is extrapolated from the gold/silver 1980 bubble chart. Compare the charts, and it's clear that the price movement of bitcoin is following the bubble pattern to a tee so far.

The chart is even reflected in the bitcoin boart:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=1.0

We are very much in the "public" phase, and the clueless masses are in either in fear, or denial, desperately trying to "DCA." Reminds me so much of what happened on the Kitco boards during the crash from $50 silver/$2000 gold.

People baselessly saying "I firmly believe in bitcoin and I think that it will keep growing."

And

20k - 2018

50k - 2019

100k - 2020

CR. Looking at BTC starting from 2013 is stupid. Right now we're in the awareness phase. Mania phase will happen when people can buy BTC with their brokerage accounts (ETFs!!). BTC will hit $50-$100K then, and all these FUD threads from the past few days will be bumped more often than anti-Trump posts from 2016.

I see you're still in denial. Sorry, but the mania phase has already passed. If you need proof, here are your fellow bitcoin buyers talking (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=1.0). If you think they sound informed, well good luck to you sir.

And yet...the takeaway from that chart is that hidden within the volatility is a moving average climbing steadily upwards.

No one can predict the future I am just stating what the data and price history clearly shows.

People treat crypto with a FOMO and intensity like it's a short term game.

It's not and it never has been. The people who saw the biggest gains invested early and sat on it for years.

zoom in on btc's previous steep rises and declines and you'll see the exact same "inflation and bursting of a bubble" in fractal form

It's not just about the lines on the chart, but the subjective phases also. If you're seeing a steep rise in the stealth phase (characterized by smart money) and a decline, or in the awareness phase (institutional investors entering the market), etc, it means the market still has legs. What is different now is the PUBLIC is in on this, which marks the mania phase.

The public isn't in on it. LJL. What percentage of the US population do you think owns BTC? Like 0.1%? HYSTERICAL MANIA!

It doesn't need a large percent, most of the US is never going to own bitcoin. Silver and gold went through this process, people thought there was a paragidm change, there were tons of radio spots about buying gold/silver, and it crashed mightily after the 2011 peak. Still, probably less than 5% of Americans actually owned any PMs.

US tech equities were, what, $3T at the height of the dotcom bubble? Crypto is worldwide and only worth $0.5T. If the bubble is allowed to inflate naturally we have a while to go. If all world governments ban it, that's another story.

Time will tell, bitcoin may see higher prices, than 19,000 someday, but you may have to be waiting a long time (like 10 years).

Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. Boomers will be able to get into crypto using their brokerage accounts by 2018/2019. That's when the real mania starts. That's when BTC climbs to $100K only to dip to $25,000 and people lose everything. What's happening today is 1/100th of what will happen in the next few years.

How many times are you checking the price of bitcoin? I'll bet you've checked it at least 5 times in the last two hours.

You know what that feeling is? It's called fear. Bro, I've been there before. I know. These are things that the entire bitcoin community is feeling. The broader public is laughing at you the way they laughed at me when silver was crashing, and have no intent to buy, while us greedy enthusiasts think they are wrong and we are genius early adopters, and thing we can dollar cost average, and every dip is a buying opportunity. Eventually almost everyone sells by the time we hit capitulation/despair.

Tech equities were not limited to us ownership. Equities also were/are much easier to own than crypto.

How many nyt articles would you need before you’d accept that we’ve reached peak crypto awareness?

I'm a veteran of being burned by bubbles (the PM bubble in particular), and understand them well. This experience and the sentiment is matching it to a tee.
