what difference does that make? you’re losing just as much money as everyone else. cost basis only matters psychologically and for taxes

dude the price you pay is a sunk cost. it doesn’t matter, it’s gone. you can’t get it back. all that matters is the current value of the eth. if i buy at 850, you buy at 50 and the price goes to 1000, we both have 1000. if it goes to 500, we both just lost 500. your loss isn’t any better than mine just because you bought in at a lower price. you may feel better about it, but that’s irrational - you just lost $500 any way you slice it

So...you're saying I should try to sell high and regret it when it drop below historical highs. But what about when it sets new historical highs later this year?

This is risky speculation baby.

i’m not advocating any strategy. i’m saying house money is the same money sitting in your bank account but people treat them differently and it makes no sense

if you wouldn’t gamble with an amount of cash in your bank account, you shouldn’t be any more reckless with house money

This. 100% psychological.

House money is still your money. You can withdraw it and use it, no? If yes, then its yours.

My salary and yearly bonus increase is "house money" too but I don't just blow it randomly.

people who bought in the double digits are playing with house money. many of us have already taken some profit equal to several times our initial investment. we can just sit back and let do and ride these ridiculous waves. with that said, there's no reason to taunt people who are losing their initial investment. that's just mean.

what’s the difference between house money and money in your bank account? does it buy less stuff?

Mine was $500 or so. I sold a lot at $1,350 which makes me happy now. It's at $890, but we've still lost a lot even if it's house money.
