I worked as a cart boy at a super busy grocery store in high school and we'd need to constantly be moving to make sure we get all the ones in the parking lot back into the store. Very stressful.

Yes, this is a daily concern, and something that I take very seriously. Fewer available carts means fewer sales, and it frequently falls to me to retrieve carts that are scattered across the parking lot. We've also had dozens of carts stolen over the years, even with various anti-theft devices installed. Homeless trash -- and even random blacks -- will just steal carts without a second thought.

we have these carts that gps stop the wheels off the parking lot and probably beep and shit too but never hung around after trying to throw them at my friends.

I've had the wheel alarms randomly go off inside the store. You should see me running around to find the special "key" to disable the alarm as customers panic. We paid thousands for these things, and they don't even work properly.
