SG standards are like $850 used. Double Cutaways are like $1200-1500 if you can find them used.

I think doodikoff has a LP so OP doesn’t make any sense. Sg is a more comfortable light version of the les Paul but with slightly less bite

less? I've got different pickups in my LP anyway - Duncan Pearly Gates. They sound silky fucking smooth.

the Pearly Gates literally make my guitar sound perfect for the tone I use 98% of the time (think The XX type delayed/reverbed tone with slight distortion)

you already have a LP and it's meant to be a single cut. If you want a double cut guitar get a SG or maybe an Ibanez artist which I feel like is a really underrated guitar.

But you are a gibson guy. If I were you and I wanted something a little different, and like the double cut look, I would get an ES 339 studio.

Already traded my old ibanez (that I had since i was 13) for this one, and I fucking love it. Play it just as much as my les paul, especially for raspier or straight up distorted stuff. I LOVE the finish.

Are the SG's as playable and rad as the les paul?

yeah I remember when you got that guitar. It's 180.

I honestly don't really like SGs very much except for my friend's vintage 1973 SG. But even he barely plays that and mostly uses his newer LP.

The Ibanez AR series are very nice double cut guitars and are reasonably priced. Here's an example:

Also, I was inches away from buying an es 339 studio a couple years ago. They have been vastly improved since that time though I know you look down your nose at Gibson studio models.

yeah definitely, for me at least. I've always found SGs kind of ergonomically uncomfortable to play (and heavy).

the doublecut LPs are chambered so they have better high and low response than the heavier, more midrange EQ of a SG
